Our definition on Collective Intelligence
Collective intelligence is a large group of people inputting their idea on a certain topic using the web to share what they think and that is collecting intelligence from people around the globe or right next door.
Colour-Impact on Education
Colour with collective intelligence impacts on education, by using wiki and other web site like that.
Impact on Subjects: Art: For Art Pop Art is a really good idea for our context colours because pot Art uses lots of colours in most Artworks. Also exploring the different time periods of art and how they inspired the next time period. Science: How the eyes actually see colours. How much energy is in a colour. As red is less energy and and purple has the most energy we can see and if the light has too much energy the light just passes your eyes because it is so strong and it is invisible like UV rays are are too strong for our eyes so it just passes by invisible. Religious studies: We have several ideas and we still need to decide on which one we will actually do. We talked about how white in Christianity means God and light and Black means death and darkness. We think that this is why white skinned people refered themselves to them as more important that the black skinned people because of the references Christianity gives it. We also thought that we could talk about how in the bible story of Noah's Ark how at the end of the story a rainbow came out it told them that the rain was about to stop so the rainbow represents new beginnnings. P.E. and Health: How certain colours can effect strenght and performance and the meaning of the colour.
colours of Advertisement
Social studies: How colours effect the brain and how colours are related to people -blue symbolises men and pink symbolises girls. We could also use our topic Collective Intelligence and make a "pretend" website for children to go onto and have a set time to skype a feminist who has strong views about the rights of women. We would have an example of one skype call and all the rest will be made up. The feminist can chose whether to send a blog interview or to skype call the children. English and Music: Film black and white colour effect in video adveritisement colour in liturature. Another idea is to see what colours people match to themes that are not already common knowledge e.g envy is green - but what colour is hope? Or a variation of this would be for each group to be assigned a colour and they would each make a page for the story book all about the different colours. What type of music partners with what type of colour for an example rock with black or what ever you thought it would match. Hard Tech: purpose and colour with an visual impact colour sells things moods feelings purswad colour scheme different purposes advertising, targets designing on ages groups safetyindustry for safety
With designing you sell things with colours, fast food resturants with the colour red gets you to buy food and then go for more people to come and then in more formal resturants they have more pastel colours to keep the customers to stay and buy more food and drink. For adververtising the brighter the colour will be more attracted to the eye and gets to go into the place or do what ever the ad wants you to do like red makes you want to eat and gets you jumpier and something like that. Signage with colours tells you different things, for examples in industries for safety moving things have yellow and black diagonals striped across them because those colours are very warning to the eye. For selling with colours designing for certain type of age groups like for the older generation say grandparents they are more attracted to pastel and calming colours than that of colours attracted to younger ages groups like at 5 years of age or older that are more attracted to fluro and bright colours, bright and jumpy. Colours can also persuade people to do things as in advertising. Food Tech: The use of colour in the presentation of food. Nutrients and colour of food- are they related?
This Year 9 Dio is doing the Horizon project using laptops. The project is going to take up the last four weeks of term 1 after EOTC week. We are the first to do this project. The class was split up in to groups of 2 and one 3. We were supplied our technologies, Collective Intelligence, grassroots and more. Our group had given the technology Collective Intelligence, at first we thought it was quite hard but soon came to what it was and how it is to be used. Collective intelligence is really just collected intelligence anyone can edit and is stored online so that anyone can access it on any form of technology that can access internet. An example of Collective intelligence is Wikipedia in which anyone can edit any page if they sign up so you have lots of different people’s opinions and knowledge that you can access. Another example of collective intelligence is Freebase, you can create a page and everything when you create an account it is practically like wiki but a bit different in some ways. We got to choose a context which our group has chosen colours. Which is quite challenging because it is not a direct sort of context like for example shoes or something like that. After the technologies are sorted and the context chosen the groups have to make a video and a wiki page on the both. But we also have to connect them to the curriculum (Art, Science, Religious Studies, P.E., Social studies, English, Music, Health, Hard Tech and Food Tech) and say how you can learn about colours in the curriculum with collective intelligence. At the end of the 4 week project there will be a presentation of the video and the wiki page in front of the 8 or 9 teachers and Mrs Yeo and Mr McCrae.

Junior/Primary
Collective Intelligence and Colours can be used in many ways in the Junior/ Primary school levels. Small children can use fun interactive sites to get research writtten in simple words which is easy for them to understand an example of a site like this would be BBC ,Britannia Junoir and Wikipedia. Visual children love colours and learn better when their work is colourful, and interactive. Mixing colours can be a joy with kids, and playing paint and colours. Although collective intelligence with laptops and technology is not regularly used by year 1 to 6 students in the class room it maybe regularly used by teachers. Collecting what the children thought about a certain topic and recording it not just on the computer but on a piece of paper as well. These children can also record collective intelligence by producing a survey on what colour the classmates around them favoured. So them their selves will be creating a collective intelligence.
Religious Light
Middle/ High School
collective Intelligence and Colours in High school. Most high schools will use some sort of technology such as computers and laptops, for the collective intelligence. Other than the class coming together and writing down the results or information because it is much quicker online. Visual learners as in Primary school will learn better so will included colours and such in study and notes. On the laptops students can also email their pairs or set up a wiki for a survey and ask each student to fill this in on what they thought.
